The Antigua and Barbuda Dental Association Signs an Agreement with the Antigua and Barbuda Red Cross Society
We are proud to announce that an agreement has been signed between the Red Cross Society and the Antigua and Barbuda Dental Association, which will bring mutual benefits to both the ABDA and the Red Cross. Transportation for the Sunny Smiles program was a significant challenge for the Association. The Red Cross Society agreed to assist in the transportation of dental equipment to primary schools. The first phase of the program, education, was an enormous success. Students received nutrition counseling from a nutritionist as well as information from the dentists on brushing, flossing, and care of the teeth. The Association made a movie that was shown in each of the schools, where children saw the dentists of the Association as the actors, as well as local children. The movie was an enormous success. The second phase of the program, taking statistical data and fluoride application, is currently taking place. The third phase will follow where the Association will transport equipment to the Sunny Smile Schools to provide much-needed dental care. The Antigua and Barbuda Dental Association is also committed to assisting with the projects of the Red Cross Society in Antigua and Barbuda.
